Children of Destiny Project
This exciting project is developing a children’s village for some of Zambia's many orphans and disadvantaged children. Zambia currently has one of the largest AIDS orphan populations per capita in the world. The project aims to provide nutrition, medical aid, clothing and education through a holistic school program. Accommodation with full time care will also be provided for children who have become completely destitute. Alongside the school...Read more

Orphans and HIV-Aids
Into Africa Inc. became aware of the needs of orphan children in Zimbabwe when Pastor Richard Dube shared at a Pastors' Conference in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe. He explained how HIV Aids has become the major cause of this problem meaning that many thousands of children wander the streets without homes and the basic necessities of life.
In Zimbabwe, it's estimated that nearly 1 in 5 children has lost a parent to AIDS. Often it's just a question of time before the other parent dies. Some experts fear that within a few years, half of Zimbabwe's children could be orphans.
Crime, Disease and Death
Many of the children die from various sicknesses and most become involved in some type of criminal activity. The seriousness of the problem is emphasized when one understands that Zimbabwe has a total population of 11.7 million of whom more than half are aged under 18.
Pastor Dube explained that on behalf of a group of pastors and other concerned people he had been able to acquire land to establish an orphanage, but had not been able to source funding to develop the orphanage because of the very poor Zimbabwean economy.
Aim of Self Sustainability
This project will be a partnership between Into Africa Inc and the Insiza Ebenezer Children's Home, for an initial period of five years. During this period it is hoped to establish the project so that it is sustainable financially through local funding and self-generating income streams.
Leaders of Integrity
The chairman, Pastor Dube, and a number of the Board are well known to us. Richard Dube is the Chairman of ACMI Zimbabwe and Grey Tapfuma is an Ambassador at Large for ACMI Africa. Both were appointed by Richard Kerridge (Chairman of ACMI Africa) because of their proven record of integrity and good name amongst many hundreds of Zimbabwean pastors.
Approved and Registered by the Government
The land was given by the local government to Pastor Dube and the board of trustees. The land is registered and has also been approved by the government.
A Great Asset to Community
The building of the centre will provide housing, clean water, food, schooling, care and protection for orphans. This project will be a great asset to the community, providing employment, schooling and a medical clinic for the people of the community. To establish an orphanage in Zimbabwe not only provides the basic necessities for the orphans but prepares them for life in a loving and caring atmosphere.
Small Business Enterprises
At present we are looking at ways we can provide ideas, expertise and resources that will enable Africans to establish businesses that will support their families and allow them to serve their communities.
The lack of capital and training always stands in their way. Simple small businesses can be established very easily if there is some help given in the right places.
It is very difficult for Africans to get started in business. They just don't have the capital or are unable to get a loan. With a relatively small loan we are able to give African families a great opportunity to enter into a small business that will enable them to have enough to eat, a place to live and the funds to send their children to school.
We are in the process of commencing a trust in Zimbabwe that will give loans for businesses to be established. A well qualified committee will select those deemed most likely to succeed. Depending on the business selected we are looking to give loans of amounts varying from $1000.00 to $10,000.00
At present the types of businesses being considered include:
* Small agricultural enterprises - seed, fertilizer and advice
* Tailors - providing a number of sewing machines and materials
* Taxi Owner Operators - to provide a second hand mini-bus
* Food Trading - buying and selling staple foods
* Small Local Stores

Wells and Pumps -Water for Life
We have already commenced this project in Malawi. It provides fresh clean water for villages and has a dramatic effect upon the health and productivity of the village, as well as being a tremendous Christian witness of love and concern to the village. To complete the well and provide the pump costs around US$5000.00
Medical Clinics
There is a tremendous need for medical clinics, trained medical staff, equipment and drugs in Africa. We have been able to set up one clinic in Malawi which is having a major impact on the surrounding area.
The supply of relatively inexpensive drugs and a small amount of money to support staff can save many lives. We have doctors who have been to Africa and can advise you about how to help in the most effective manner.
Prison Ministry
Pastor Milanzi, our representative in Malawi, has found special favor in the prisons of Malawi. Because of the work he is doing the government is taking note of the great improvements taking place in the jails. Through his influence primary schools, secondary schools and Bible Colleges are operating within the prisons.
There is a great need for literature and basic necessities, such as soap and clothing, which are often not provided in the jails. As well as regular visitation to the prisons Pastor Milanzi operates Operation Destiny which is a program that helps those who have finished their sentences to find work, housing and become acclimatized to life outside of prison.
A recent gift of soccer balls has greatly encouraged the prisoners in a number of prisons in Malawi. Also a gift of some sewing machines has enabled prisoners to make their own clothing. A gift of even $300.00 can make a major difference.
